Q and A Moment of the Day

BLASPHEMING THE HOLY SPIRIT

“Therefore, I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven but the blaspheming the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven in this age and in the next ” (Matt. 12)

What does this mean When God has offered forgiveness?

To blaspheme the Holy Spirit is not not believing in the Holy Spirit or that the Holy Spirit is divine or grieving the Holy Spirit (Eph. 4:30) or quenching the Holy Spirit (1Thess. 5) or resisting the Holy Spirit (Acts 7). Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is the continuous refusal of the work of the Holy Spirit in the person’s heart/soul.

As a result of this refusal, the person does not repent and therefore God does not forgive them.

However, if the person is willing God accepts their repentance and forgives:  Christ Jesus “The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out”(John 6) There is no sin without forgiveness except not repenting! But a person cannot repent-or do anything good and righteous- without the communion of the Holy Spirit!

Blaspheming the Holy Spirt could be said to be one deciding for one’s self what is good and what is evil persistently therefore the person is turned away from God who is Life, Love mercy and forgiveness.

God is always ready to forgive. Nothing prevents God’s forgiveness, except the person’s persistent unwillingness to repent to bring forth God’s forgiveness.

If a person refuses to repent God waits until the person’s last breath-remember the repentant thief on the cross. If the person refuses to repent all their life and refuses the working of the Spirit and communion with the Holy Spirit until the person’s death or the return of Christ…the person NOT God would be responsible for the eternal condition of their soul.
